Johnathyn Owens
Founder // Creative Director Industrial Design Lead
Johnathyn is an award winning designer, speaker, and photographer specializing in social impact design and sustainable development. Graduated with a MA/MSc in Innovation Design & Engineering from the Royal College of Art, and Imperial College London UK, Johnathyn fulfills his life passion through design projects which empower individuals and communities to take positive change into their own hands. Previously he has worked on design innovations for Philips, Fuseproject, and IDEO.
Lawrence Wu
Partner // Director
Lawrence is a futurist and entrepreneur who empowers individuals and startups, to co-create their preferred sustainable outcomes. Focusing mostly on food and sustainable development, he is professionally curious about governance, emerging technology, and the human experience. In addition to being our executive producer, Lawrence is a founding member of Bits x Bites and general member of AngelVest Group.
Hanami Itagaki
Visual Design Lead
Primarily focused on the fields of conceptual branding, editorial design and creative strategy, Hanami has worked on multiple bilingual projects professionally while earning BFA in Graphic Design at Academy of Art University. With deep experience collaborating with Japan Women Foundation, Global Shapers Community from the World Economic Forum and many other organizations to solve social issues through visual communications, she is an invaluable member to our team.
Young Eun Han
Graphic & Visual Designer
Youngeun Han is Graphic and Visual Designer at Sentient Collective, and the founder of Y.Han. Based in New York City, she was educated at Rhode Island School of Design & Fashion Institute of Technology. She has won first and second place in the MJSA awards, had her work exhibited internationally, and has been designing for national & international corporations and clients since 2011. Her multi faceted background in the visual arts, graphic and jewelry design is reflected in her work.
Alex Thalmann
Business R&D
Since 2015 Alex has been supporting organizations with conception, planning and implementation of ambitions as a strategic partner and flexible companion. Instead of the big innovation stage, he prefers intensive work behind the scenes and helping building agile qualities together with leaders through on-the-job coaching. Before joining Sentient Collective he has worked as an Agile Coach, Product Owner, UX Designer, Design Thinking Coach and innovation consultant.
Kento Ito
Design Research Fellow
Graduated from Goldsmith’s College of London with several years of experience in foundational research, concept validation and co-creative workshops, Kento’s mission is to bring people’s voices to the table of design discussion and leverage the full potential of those whom he works with. At Sentient Collective he helps drive qualitative research, building upon his years in the field to bring forth actionable insights which lead to game changing design offerings.
Tomoka Murakami
Motion Graphics & Visual Design Associate
Designer and illustrator, Tomoka is well known for her vibrant style and ability to bring concepts to life visually in a way that truly reveals the concepts character and story.
Graduated from SVA’s MFA Designer as Entrepreneur program, and having previously worked at creative giants to the likes of DONGURI, Madwell, she lends her invaluable skills to Sentient Collective as Motion Graphics & Visual Design Associate.
Masaomi Tomomitsu
Sound and Music Production
DJ, Tendai priest, organiser of temple festival [Kohgen] / Born 1983. Has played at large overseas festivals such as Burning Man in the USA and Cosmic Convergence in Guatemala. While mainly DJing at clubs and festivals, he also produces mixes to accompany esthetic treatments, and DJs to liven up our pitches and business events. He also combines his career as a monk of the Tendai sect of Buddhism to deliver sensitive and gentle music, he connects songs while teaching Zazen.
Isabelle Jordy
Film Production Associate
Passionate about travelling, people and places, wine, and the beauty of moving image, Isabel has worked in the fields of Marketing, and Film Production, for a decade. Her international background and professional education has allowed her to collaborate with industry, and the opportunity for valuable experience and knowledge in both Italy and Germany.
Francisco Gangotena
Sound Recordist // Amazon Rainforest Fixer & Interpreter
Francisco is a sound recordists, tech, fixer, and linguist known for his ability to work seamlessly between the bustling chaoticness of city life, and the tranquil yet truly alive internal workings of the Amazon Rainforest. Helping us manage logistics, on location shoots, translation, and sound recording, he has been and continues to be pivotal to the creation of our feature film, SENTIENT, and an invaluable part of our team.
Christina Jackson
Food Products Design
Christina Ayumi Jackson is a distinguished culinary professional with a rich background spanning Japanese, Taiwanese, and American cultures. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Christina has earned Michelin stars, appeared on and won the television competition "Chopped," and played a pivotal role in the opening of eight restaurants.
This year, she has returned to Tokyo to open her own restaurant, The Black Cat, marking a new chapter in her lifelong dedication to food and hospitality.
